Live Sketching at Backyard Baithaks in Sydney

On 1 March 2025, I had the joy of live sketching at a truly magical evening — Backyard Baithaks in Sydney, co-founded by the wonderful Sunanda and Neha. They host regular gatherings, each built around a unique theme, with tickets available via Eventbrite.

This edition, India’s Greatest Love Stories, was a celebration of timeless romance through music, poetry, and soulful storytelling. Guests arrived in stunning sarees, kurtas, and jhumkas — dressed in soft shades of white, ivory, and moonlight that beautifully echoed the theme’s elegance and depth. Sketching guests that evening was more than drawing — it was about capturing emotion, heritage, and connection.

With beautiful performances, warm conversations, delicious food, and comforting chai, the evening was alive with creativity and community.

A heartfelt thank you to Sunanda and Neha for bringing this theme to life and inviting me to be part of such a meaningful experience. I can't wait for the next one!

Indian-themed backyard gathering in Sydney with guests enjoying a cultural event inspired by traditional baithaks

Guests gathered for an Indian-themed backyard event in Sydney, styled as a relaxed cultural baithak. Dressed in vibrant traditional Indian attire, they shared stories, enjoyed meaningful conversations, and celebrated together in a warm, intimate setting.

A beautifully arranged Indian catering spread featuring savoury favourites like chicken tikka, paneer tikka, hara bhara kebabs, and dal makhani, alongside traditional Indian sweets including moong dal halwa and assorted mithai. This delicious setup was part of the event in Sydney.
